Boston Trip Prep

Dec 8, 2015

(Me & part of my team last year)
I fly out to Boston this week for my annual work Christmas party (we are headquartered there). It's a very fun/fancy party at The State Room and I look forward to it every year!
Yet, I always procrastinate on selecting a dress!
Our company hosts a few events in conjunction with the party while we are there. My St. Louis team starts things out on Thursday with The Whiskey Priest. Then the party is that evening and on day two we have open bars at 21st Amendment + Carrie Nation. This year we are having live music on day 2, so excited! Last year I attended a Celtic's game while I was in town and hit some local spots.
This year, I'm being proactive and curating a list of local gems I'd like to try to see. I'll likely only visit one or two since my trip is short.

Naturally my lists surround beer and coffee. Have you been to Boston? Or maybe you live there? If so, what do ya recommend? I really like this city guide by Design Sponge.

Beer :
Sam Adams - of course
Harpoon Brewery
Beer Works
Trillium Brewing Company

Coffee :
The Coffee Trike (so cool!!)
Buttery

Other :
Farm & Fable
Gather
Harvard

Also, the Bright & Bonny giveaway has ended. Congrats, Tom! We will be shipping this print out soon! If you didn't check out the shop last week, you should do so before Christmas!

  1. I went to school in Boston and now live just about 20 minutes south so I thought I'd throw in a few tips!

I love Harpoon, honestly moreso than Sam Adams - SA isn't quite as easy to get to on public transportation, and public is iffy if you're driving, and their tasting room experience is limited. At Harpoon, you take the tour and then have 20 minutes for as many tastings as you'd like - it's been renovated in the last couple of years and is so warm and cozy. Plus there's a full restaurant for food and more beers :) Beer Works is great but is somewhat of a chain around here - for an amazing beer selection (we're talking 113 taps and 380 microbrews), try Sunset Grill & Tap in Allston. It's maybe a 5 minute walk from the Packard's Corner T-stop on the Green B Line (right by BU) and is so, so worth it. Trust!

The Boston Common tree is up, which is always super pretty, and if you have time during the day for sightseeing, I always love strolling through Beacon Hill - plenty of corner coffee shops to pop into, and between the boughs and garland and the brick-paved streets, you can't help but fall in love with the city a little bit more!

Have a fabulous time - can't wait to read your recap once you're back!

    1. Oh my goodness! This was so helpful. I would rather go to a more local feeling brewery than SA, so it sounds like Harpoon is a must! I'll have to look into Sunset!
Our hotel is right near where the tree is so I've seen that in past trips & definitely want to see it again! Thanks so much!
