Nashville Trip Recap

Jan 30, 2017

The boy & I went on a long weekend getaway to Nashville. We decided that instead of exchanging birthday gifts, we would take a trip. So, we waited until after the holidays to get away.
Now, we are back and we had such a great time!
Live music / the Opry / dancing / sunshine / local brews / coffee shops / brunch / exploring
All the best things! Coming back from a long weekend away always makes a Monday a little extra tough but I am so grateful to have gotten the chance to sneak away.

We left first thing Friday morning and got in early afternoon. After we checked in we walked over to Tailgate Beer on Music Row I had a Groupon, so we had some brews, pizza and walked away with 2 six-packs. Definitely suggest checking that out.
Next we got ready and headed to the Ryman for the Grand Ole Opry show. This is where the show originated, and they go back for some weeks during the winter as a tribute to where it all started. Glad we got to see it there, the acoustics were stellar and it's such an intimate venue. Our lineup highlights were - Terri Clark, Craig Morgan, Granger Smith, Trent Harmon, & Ricky Skaggs. There were a few others too, so much talent on one stage. This was a definite highlight for us.

Then we were right next to Broadway so we headed over to a few bars to close out the night with more live music and dancing. A favorite of ours was the Swingin' Doors Saloon, the singer (Nick Smith) there was awesome - think a mix of Jason Aldean & Tyler Farr. It wasn't as packed as places like Honky Tonk & Tootsie's and the beers were cheaper. Wins all around!

We headed to brunch first thing, we got recommendations to go to Biscuit Love, but there was a long line waiting outside, so the boy nixed that idea. So, I suggested we go to Saint Anejo since I had been there on my last trip to Nashville. It's so good, and BONUS the brunch cocktails are BOGO. We spotted that fun mural on the way to brunch too.
After that it was sunny so we walked around to explore. We headed to Music Row - lots of recording studios, etc. Then we popped into Barista Parlor (very hip), walked past Yazoo Brewery (I was still sipping my iced coffee or I would have popped in), walked past cute shops & the Country Music Hall of Fame & then popped into bars with live music on Broadway. During the day our fave bars were Whiskey Bent Saloon & The Valentine. Cool atmospheres & good bands.

That evening we grabbed a quick dinner & headed back to Broadway because the singer we liked from Swingin' Doors was going to be back on at 10:30. We popped into Legends Corner (popular and packed) & Cervesca Jacks (less crowded, food looked tasty, live music) beforehand. We ended out the night with our favorite band yet again.

We packed up & headed over to the Frothy Monkey in Franklin, TN. This place must be very popular because it was packed. We intended to eat there, but grabbed muffins to go since there were no tables. I had an iced rosemary latte & milk for the boy. Franklin was an area that I wish we would have explored now that I saw how cute it was and so close too (have to drive to). It started snowing as we were leaving.
